Course Catalog Description:
Serve as a research assistant in an Institute of Child Development lab. Help plan/implement scientific studies, gain experience/expertise in methodology of research. Duties vary based on lab and student and are individually arranged with corresponding faculty member. To register: students must first secure their own placement in a faculty research lab. Then submit signed research contract to CPSY advisor for a permission number to register.

Class Description:
This is an opportunity for students to assist in developmental research. Many opportunities are listed on our CPSY undergraduate advising board in Room 106. Possible tasks might include making phone calls to solicit subjects; scheduling and confirming appointments; updating information; filming subjects; coding data, entering data into a computer; tabulating data; analyzing data statistically; sitting with siblings during experiments; doing library research; collecting archival data. This list is not exhaustive. A contract and override are required to register. The student uses a contract as an opportunity to clarify opportunities, responsibilities, and desires, etc.
