- The beginning Russian course develops the four basic language skills--speaking, understanding, reading, and writing--in a balanced, highly integrated manner. Students do regularly assigned grammar exercises, listen to CD's, and are required to participate in each class section. Active control of Russian structure is the principal criterion of evaluation.
