In this class students learn to speak, read, write, and understand Russian, beginning with the alphabet.
Who Should Take This Class?:
Anyone who wants to learn Russian from the beginning should take this course, whether you're interested in literature, music, culture, history, or just want to communicate with Russian speakers. No previous experience with the language is required. If you're not sure which level of Russian is right for you, see this page for placement.

Class Description:
The beginning Russian course develops the four basic language skills--speaking, understanding, reading, and writing--in a balanced, highly integrated manner. Students do regularly assigned grammar exercises, listen to CD's, and are required to participate in each class section. Active control of Russian structure is the principal criterion of evaluation.
