We will cover the major domains of development - cognitive, social, and emotional - from the prenatal period to early adolescence. Following the approach adopted in the required text, the course is organized chronically. Because the course is designed to provide to provide an overview of the field of development psychology, no one topic is covered in depth. Students who are especially interested in pursuing specific areas in greater depth are encouraged to take more advanced courses (e.g., CPSY 3343, Cognitive Development; CPSY 3303, Adolescent Development) The primary class format will be lecture, but there will be daily discussion and regular focused discussions on listed topics.
