- At the intersection of oral and written modes of transmission, medieval musical cultures lend themselves to acts of re-imagining contingent upon information from many types of sources. We will explore the manner in which the study of voices and musical instruments can participate in the reimagining of interconnected pre-modern musical cultures, from Greece to Central Asia, China, Islamic cultures, and ultimately to Europe.
