Class Notes:
This class will meet remotely on May 24, 25, 27, 28 from 8:00AM to 3:00PM CT. These times include budgeted time for asynchronous, on-demand content (8-10AM) AND live, synchronous sessions (10AM-12PM, 1-3PM). May 26 is open for individual and group class-related work. Students should prepare for a week-long class experience and commit to the live sessions each day. Students will also be expected to complete individual pre-work assignments (~12-15 hours) in the 3-4 weeks preceding the first session on May 24. This compressed course is designed to jumpstart or accelerate your personal development as a leader. The format and content best serve graduate students who have several years of full-time work experience where they have had the opportunity to influences others. It is not required that you have formal direct reports but rather that you have had experience in your jobs where you are more effective when successful in upward influence, lateral influence, and/or downward influence. While we will discuss conceptual approaches and best practices of leadership, the course is primarily data-driven and experiential with the goal of helping you understand your goals and behavioral patterns that can improve the scope and quality of your influence. This class is offered several times a year so students can take it when they have time and capacity to absorb and reflect upon substantial feedback and assessment. The goals of the class are to (1) help students gain a clear sense of where they are in their leadership development, (2) share data-driven best practices, and (3) guide students as they craft a customized leadership development plan for themselves. The compressed format of this course is made possible by thoughtful completion of substantial pre-work, including a high-quality 360-degree feedback assignment (details sent 1-month before Day 1). If you cannot stay informed with course emails and complete foundational pre-work on your own in early May, you should take a d
