Killer Krimis.
This course examines the representation of crime in German-language literature, cinema, and television. By studying different genres of literature and other forms of cultural production in relation to the representation of crime and the related concepts (criminals, crime victims, justice) we will gain insights into trends and discourses that have shaped contemporary German-language culture. we will read some of the most sinister, riveting, and eerie texts ever written in the German language, and gain a general sense of how ideas of ‘justice' developed over the last two hundred years. Course taught in German.
