Class Notes:
This course explores movement improvisation as a core strategy for choreography and world-building in dance. It will focus on exploring the bodily manifestations of emotional states and on developing metaphoric and imagistic articulations of such states of being. Students will be asked to stay with a thematic exploration for longer-than-usual, continuous time frames, and work with methodologies of repetition, durational movement, and intervention, such that they begin to understand the dynamic and energetic flows within such emotional states.
