- Class Description:
- A survey of major ethical perspectives in Eastern and Western traditions. Topics include: Plato and the Buddha on 'the self', Aristotle and Confucius on moral virtues, Kant on basic moral rules, Mozi and Mill on consequences, and skeptical challenges from Nietzsche and Zhuangzi to ethical theory itself.
Success in this course requires regular attendance and active participation in class discussion.
