Prerequisites: FREN 3015; completion of FREN 3016 strongly recommended.
The course is centered on the themes of entrepreneurship, sustainable development, and global engagement.
While a focus is exposure to business trends and work practices in France, the broader French-speaking world, including DOM-TOMs, Quebec, and francophone regions in the Maghreb and sub-Saharan Africa will also be considered. You will be engaging critically with cultural practices, products, and perspectives as you examine underlying cultural values.
Several activities are framed around ‘français de l'entreprise' tasks from Paris CCI (Chambre de Commerce et d' Industrie) and will focus on authentic/real-life communicative and situational tasks (simulations, business letter writing, job search: resume, application letter writing, interview process). Your final project will be a marketing project for a product/service integrating the three pillars of sustainable development (economic, environmental, social).
Upon completing the course, you will have gained a better sense of your own career interests and goals, as well as the presentational and cultural skills necessary to pursue internship and employment opportunities in a francophone context and to interact professionally with francophone speakers.
The course is offered in a synchronous remote format.
