The course expands introductory course material via special emphasis on decision making, problem solving skills and exploration of accounting's role within overall management. The course is an in-action class. We will have a project working on a business case from a firm as the final assessment for the course. prereq: 3001, acct or finance major
Class Description:
This course continues the topic of management accounting in greater depth. The purpose of management accounting is to provide information to management for costing products, as well as for planning, controlling, and evaluating business activities. The purpose of this class is to expand and build on the topics introduced in ACCT3001. The course will hone and refine the tools and techniques learned in introductory management accounting classes as well as improve your decision-making skills. We will also explore several topics not covered in the introductory class as well as consider how management accounting supports overall business strategy.
