Class Notes:: Practicing Speech-Language Pathology in a medical setting requires knowledge that spans far beyond content specific to cognition, communication, and deglutition. Clinicians must possess an understanding about the underlying health conditions, roles and reporting structure of associated healthcare providers, ins and outs of life monitoring and sustaining equipment, and a host of unspoken rules governing medical speech pathology practice and communications. In this course we will explore these foundational elements with the assistance of interdisciplinary guest speakers who will shed light on these foundational elements and clinically significant factors from their unique perspectives.
