Course Catalog Description:: This multidisciplinary course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of clinical oncology (adult and pediatric) and is designed for the medical student interested in entering any specialty. Emphasis is placed on understanding important concepts of oncology, acquiring practical skills relevant to the diagnosis and treatment of the common malignancies, and gaining confidence in providing psychosocial support to patients and families. The student follows newly diagnosed patients as they go through their initial evaluation/staging tests for malignancy and participate in planning treatments. Approximately two hours a day is devoted to conferences and tutorial sessions developed specifically for the student enrolled in this course. prereq: 7500 or Ped 7501
