Course Catalog Description:: Prevailing paradigms of analysis, methodologies of research, and guiding theoretical concepts that have shaped Chicana/o studies. The paradigms introduced in this course are foundational to the study of Chicanas, Chicanos, and Chicanx, and it provides the necessary tools for success in upper division courses in the department. Topics include decolonial imaginaries, indigeneity, intersectionality, experiential knowledge, hegemony and counter-hegemony, oppositional consciousness, queer theory, racialization, transnationalism, and globalization.
