- Students select and study a topic of interest.

- This course requires a permission number. Course Description: Students will develop oral presentation and communication skills to support both the dissemination of research findings and interaction among the public and other members of the science community. We will address audience awareness, speaking anxiety causes (including imposter syndrome and perfectionism) and mitigation techniques, vocal production, physical presence, mental presence and intentional adaptation to environments and audiences, and the skills and methods of effective practice (including feedback solicitation and provision). The class will be a combination of lecture and practicum, during which students will give presentations. Students will be expected to dedicate approximately four hours per week outside of class writing, editing, practicing, and analyzing presentations on video.
