- Learn how maps and other spatial technologies like phones, drones, and GPS work. Use web-based tools to make maps for class, jobs, and fun. Explore how mapping is a useful lens through which to view interactions between technology and society, and see how mapping technology saves lives, rigs elections, and spies on people.
- Class Description:
- INSTRUCTOR: Associate Professor Steve Manson We will learn about mapping our world by understanding how maps work, making our own maps, mapping virtual worlds like Facebook, and understanding how people use maps to tell stories and lies. Along the way, we will see how mapping is a useful lens through which to understand interactions between technology and society. This class fulfills TWO LE requirements, the Social Sciences Core and the Society and Technology Theme.
