- Field identification of common northwoods trees, shrubs, and nonwoody vascular plants. Emphasizes concept of plant communities, soil site relationships, and wildlife values. Taught at Cloquet Forestry Center.

- The Introductory Field Session is taught at the Cloquet Forestry Station, Cloquet, MN. ***Students should arrive on Sunday, August 15, 2021, the first day of class is Monday, August 16, 2021 and the last day of class is Saturday, September 4, 2021, most students depart the next day, Sunday, September 5, 2021.
- Class Description:
- The course emphasizes field identification of common Minnesota vascular plants, particularly herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees often found in Minnesota forests, wetlands and open areas. Guided field tours are used to introduce students to the identification, taxonomy, community relationships, and general uses of approximately 135 important vascular plants. prereq [Biol 1001 or Biol 1009]; 1101, Biol 2022 recommended Taught at the Cloquet Forestry Center.
