- Aspects/principles of prevention. Risk assessment, screening, dietary analysis. Models of health education, health promotion. How dental profession influences public. Student groups research/present materials about oral health topic.

The purpose of this course is to develop foundation knowledge of the discipline of public health and the role dental public health plays within the dental profession. Dental Public Health II builds on the foundation laid out in Dental Public Health I (Introduction to Community Oral Health) and focuses on more systems wide factors that determine the quality and delivery of care to populations. The course will provide a wider understanding of the role of the dental profession in advocating for optimal health of communities, and the interplay between the dental profession and public/governmental efforts to promote oral health of communities as well as the interests of the dental profession.
