Course Catalog Description:: Formative assessment in hearing conservation. Auditory and nonauditory effects of noise on humans. Designing a hearing conservation program. Measuring noise levels. Monitoring hearing. Measuring hearing protection devices. Developing educational materials Describe federal and state regulations on hearing conservation. Students work in groups to measure noise in campus settings, perform real-ear assessment of hearing protectors, and develop and pilot-test educational materials on effects of noise on hearing. prereq: [8801, 8802] or [CDis 8801, CDis 8802]
