- Students write a research review on a physiological topic. Students select an area of focus within the discipline of physiology, and complete a literature review of basic science papers published in the past 10 years in their topic area. All students will work with a faculty advisor, who will assist the student in selecting their topic area, refining the focus of their literature review, and provide guidance on writing a scientific review article. prereq: concurrent registration is required (or allowed) in 3061, physiology major, 1 yr [college chem, physics], math through integral calculus
- Class Description:
- Students will: 1) select a topic in physiological research, 2) read and analyze recent research papers in their topic area a) examine the hypotheses, methods results and discussion sections of the research papers 3) Organize the information and prepare a term paper on their topic using information extracted from the research works. All students work with a faculty advisor who provides advice and analysis as the research paper is constructed.

- Other Grading Information: Grading is 15% student submissions to Moodle-based assignments and 85% final draft of the term paper.

- Fall semester: Class sessions for 6 weeks, independent study after that point Summer session: Online course with instruction and support materials available via Moodle. All students work with a faculty advisor who provides advice and analysis as the research paper is constructed.
