Whether you want to read Homer or Hippocrates, Aristotle or Aristophanes, Paul or Plato, Greek 1001-1002 is the place to start. In this class you will learn the elements of classical Attic Greek, the dialect spoken and written in Athens during the fifth and fourth centuries BC: a language of tragedy, comedy, oratory, history, and philosophy. With a knowledge of the basic grammar and vocabulary of Attic, you can later go on to read the epics of Homer, the letters of Paul, the comedies of Aristophanes, or whatever you'd like from texts spanning 1200 years of history.
