- Class Description:
Welkom terug in Nederlands 1002. This is the second course in the first-year language instruction sequence (1001-2), designed to develop a basic communicative proficiency in Dutch. Note: This is second semester beginning Dutch, so it is not a beginner's course. Students will practice the four language skills (speaking, writing, reading, and listening) and learn to handle simple, everyday transactions. The main book is the text book package of "Code Plus" volume 1. The book is accompanied by a Moodle course site where students can find additional course materials. Class time will be devoted to mostly speaking and listening skills. Supplementary materials about life and culture in Holland (short authentic and literary texts, songs, video, and pictures) will be an integral part of the course. Students should expect an average of 2 hours of outside preparation for each class session. See the description for Dtch 4002 for an option for qualified students to register for this course for 2 credits instead of 5 credits.
