This course covers theory and practice in planning, conducting, and evaluating, various types of informational interviews. In the course we deal with many forms of the interview including: focused interview, elite/journalistic interview, helping interview, persuasion interview, focus groups, and the selection interview. You will gain practical experience in interviewing by doing role plays in class, participating in interview demonstrations, and doing interviews outside of class. As a result of taking this class, you should develop the following competencies: • Ability to plan, conduct and evaluate various types of interviews • Ability to apply communication concepts and skills in conducting and analyzing your communication in the interview • Develop a range of interview techniques and understand what techniques are most appropriate in given contexts.- Textbooks:
