- Class Description:
- This course examines major socio-economic challenges that confront post-independent sub-Saharan African countries in their quest for sustainable economic development and growth. We will discuss topics such as causes of persistent poverty and inequality; the role of institutions and multinational agencies, as well as governance in African societies. Finally, we will examine the prospects for development and growth in the 21st Century. This course is reading intensive.
