Intellectual threads and faculty for courses in BSE major, especially social sciences. Content varies. Students may take this course to explore the BSE major. Must be completed prior to senior year.

Class Description:
The goals for this course are (1) to provide an overview of the BSE major with attention paid to how the B, S, and E parts are interrelated; (2) to introduce some of the research and teaching themes of faculty involved in the major; (3) to help you develop or refine your own path through the major; and (4) to provide an opportunity to meet, learn from, and learn about some of your BSE peers.
Who Should Take This Class?:
BSE sophomores and juniors, and students considering a major in Biology, Society and Environment. This is a required course for the BSE major.
Grading:
Grades are based on attendance and participation in in-class discussion, three short projects, and two short papers.
Exam Format:
There are no exams in this course.
Class Format:
Lecture, discussion.
Workload:
Reading: appx 1-3 hours per week. Students complete three projects that focus on the BSE major and two response papers that focus on in-class guest presentations.
