- Class Description:
- This course will be open to students who have passed the Semester I 3rd-year Chinese language course (Chn 3031) during the autumn and winter of 1999. The focus will shift slightly away from reading skills, to include more student-guided/led discussions in Chinese, on a variety of assigned and student-chosen themes. We will also attempt to incorporate Chinese Film into the classroom, to incorporate a broader cross-cultural knowledge of the target language cultural context. Students will be provided with less preparatory material for each assignment, as they become more adept at navigating through unfamiliar vocabulary and spontaneous situations. Finally students will be more frequently penalized (points deducted) for lapsing into English during classroom sessions.
