This course will introduce the principal literary genres--narrative prose, poetry, and theater - and the methods used to study literary art produced in a Hispanic context across the centuries. Structures, meaning, and social/historical function of diverse literary texts. Prereq: a grade of C- or better in SPAN 3015W or 3015V or 3019W
Class Notes:
The Department requires students meet the prerequisites of this course of SPAN 3015W. If you cannot register please add your name to the waitlist. If there are remaining seats we will start moving some minors off the waitlist starting Dec. 7, 2020.
Class Description:
This course aims to introduce students to basic concepts of literary criticism and analysis through reading, discussing and writing about a variety of texts in Spanish. These will broadly represent a range of genres, periods, and styles. As this a writing-intensive course, it will include regular practice of composition and revision of written Spanish as a means of interpreting and responding to literary texts.
