Heureux de vous revoir! Because you have studied French before, you already know what a wonderful language it is. This course is designed to return you to studying the language of Les Misérables, Monet, and joie de vivre! French 1022 is an accelerated review of French 1001 followed by the material covered in French 1002. At the end of this course, you will be able to communicate about topics such as food, family, school, the environment, travel and much more. If you have had a gap of more than a year since your last French class, you need to take the EPT to place into French 1022.

http://classinfo.umn.edu/?FREN1022+Spring2021 This course is taught completely online with synchronous Zoom class sessions on Monday through Thursday (plus the first 4 Fridays - Jan. 22, Jan. 29, Feb. 5, and Feb. 12) during the scheduled class meeting time. Starting Feb. 19, all Fridays will be asynchronous. Required technology: Webcam (built-in or external); Access to a stable Internet connection of at least 512kbps ; Microphone (built-in or external) Recommended technology: Headphones with microphone; Desktop or laptop computer less than six years old with at least 1GB of RAM; Most recent version of Chrome or Firefox

If you have had a gap of more than a year since your last French class, you need to take the EPT to place into French 1022.

French 1022 is a five-credit course, so you should plan to spend an additional 10 hours a week on coursework outside the classroom. Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to enroll in French 1003.
Grading:
Other Grading Information: 35% written exams, 15% oral exams, 15% final exam, 12% reports/papers, 8% special projects, 7% quizzes, 8% workbook exercises.
Exam Format:
All exams evaluate listening, vocabulary, grammar, writing, reading and culture. Oral skills are assessed in pair discussions.

Mostly discussion and student involvement in pair/group activities
