- Fourth of six-semester sequence of jazz dance. Expand vocabulary/develop skills, technique, style. Increase flexibility, strength. Use of space, clear articulation of movement, rhythmic footwork, grounding movement, dynamics, musicality. prereq: 1210, dept consent, audition
- Class Description:
- This is the fourth of an eight-semester sequence of jazz dance technique/style. This class will introduce vocabulary and develop technical skills, using a variety of jazz dance styles while increasing flexibility, groundedness and strength. This will include more complex weight changes, rhythm patterns changes of direction and balances. Students will work on perfecting inside and outside pirouettes in plie and releve. Dancers will increase their understanding of musicality, dynamics, style and improvisation, and explore a basic understanding of the history of jazz music styles. Successful completion of previous level or departmental approval by audition required for registration
