How Latinos have collectively resisted social domination. Theories of social power/movements. Resistance by Latinos during 60s/70s. Current organized efforts to curb immigration, establish English as official language, and limit immigrant rights.
Class Description:
This course will address how Latinos have collectively resisted social domination. We will explore theories of social power and social movements. The course will focus on resistance by Latinos during 60s/70s with a special emphasis on the evolution of the immigrant rights movement at the intersection of ethnic and labor organizing.
