Class Description:
0A

This is an invitation to experiment with sound as your primary artistic medium. It is accessible to anyone who is curious about sound, passionate about all things sonic, never considered sound as a medium for visual artists, or is interested in experiencing a new creative perspective. Students in all disciplines are welcome to be active participants. We will explore origins, influences, theories, and examples of sound art while also engaging with the processes and materials involved. To do this we will gather and reconfigure sounds, use sound to activate space, explore sound as an interactive medium, make soft speakers and underwater microphones, and consider the potential of sound as a social catalyst. Ongoing listening experiences and discussions will attune you to the medium and to your process of gaining and expanding artistic fluency.

note: Student course fees provide you with consumable materials during the course as well as sound related resources that you will make and keep for your use after the course.
