Course Catalog Description:: Study writing produced in Quebec as a literature of its own, not simply as a part of Canadian literature. Literature will be studied in relation to other North American literatures and to Francophone literature produced elsewhere in the world.

Class Description:: In this course, taught entirely in French, we will examine novels, poetry, theater and films that explore the formation of Quebecois national identity as a function of its relationship with language. We will focus especially on immigrant aesthetic production in Quebec and the complexities it adds to identity formation in terms of race, class and gender.
