- Creating ideas visually with 2- and 3-dimensional animation technologies. Vector- and layer-based raster animation. Modeling objects and spaces, creating textures, lighting, movement, sound track. prereq: ARTS 1704
- Class Notes:
- Two additional hours of lab arranged per week. This course is completely online in a synchronous format. The course will meet online at the scheduled times.
- Class Description:
- In this course, students are introduced to a variety of techniques and forms of digital animation. Through short exercises and longer projects, students gain experience with digital 2D animation in Photoshop and 3D animation in Maya. Through practice and application, students explore the Disney Principles of Animation, character design, animation workflow and pre-production. The course culminates in an independent project. Classes consist of demonstrations, independent work time, historical and contemporary animation screenings, in-progress and final critiques, and self-assessments. Studio work outside of class is expected.
