- Class Description:
- This course examines major developments in eighteenth-century painting, sculpture, and interior decoration from the emergence of the Rococo to the dawn of Neoclassicism. Students will explore new forms of patronage brought about in France, Italy, Spain, England, and other cultural center during the eighteenth century. We will discuss the erotic art of that period and the effect it had on society. The course explores, at its core, how visual culture served to express social, political, and religious ideas during a tumultuous century of European history.
