Course Catalog Description:: This is an online CourseShare course received from Indiana University. This course provides a concise overview of grammar as well as reading and translation practice for graduate students who wish to read Italian. The course is primarily intended to help graduate students acquire and practice the tools they need to use Italian documents in their own research.This course enables students to acquire and increase reading precision and fluency through the study of grammar and vocabulary; the discussion of various strategies for understanding texts on the basis of fragmentary structural and content-related information; and regular reading and translation of original, edited and unedited texts from different sources. The class is conducted mainly in English; listening, speaking, and writing skills are developed minimally.
