- Class Description:
- This course provides an overview of the scientific study of the mind, in terms of mental representation of information and mental processing of that information. It covers research and theory on cognitive abilities, including perception, attention, learning, memory, language, reading, problem solving, reasoning, and choice. Although cognitive functions are emphasized, relevant aspects of computational modeling and the underlying neural systems are treated as well. Emphasis is placed on basic research and contemproary issues, although the relevant historical background is covered briefly. This course is intended for undergraduate sudents.
