Introduction to Roman epic poetry. Readings of selections from Vergil's Aeneid. Quantitative meter and poetic devices. Discussion of major themes and issues as developed in Vergil's poetry.

Selections from Vergil's Aeneid for students who have had at least three semesters of Latin; introduction to Latin meter. Prerequisite: completion of Latin 3003 with a grade of C- or higher (or S) or instructor consent.
