- Readings of Arabic texts. Writing compositions based on texts. Continuation of 5101.
- Class Description:
- This course is designed for students who have successfully completed five semesters of intensive Modern Standard Arabic. The course focuses on the elevation of students' communicative skills in Modern Standard Arabic in all four modalities of speaking, writing, reading and listening. Arabic is used as the medium to study and critically engage with a variety of practices and issues in the contemporary Arab world. Elements of culture are integrated into the course throughout the semester. Students give regular presentations and practice exchanging opinions and providing arguments in sustained oral communication. Advanced grammar is studied through complex authentic texts in various genres. Students develop their sensitivity to stylistic conventions of written Arabic. Prereq: pass in ARAB-5101, or equivalent experience as assessed through a placement test.
