Class Description:
This course is for those who have completed Spanish 1022 or 1002 with C- or better, or who have taken two or more years of Spanish in high school and have successfully passed the Entrance Proficiency Test (EPT) for this level. ***Sections [001 thru 012} normally meet in-person/on campus on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. In addition, there are a limited number of days (announced at the beginning of the semester) in which students are required to complete synchronous class work online during class time and/or attend class in person for exams and special assignments on Fridays. These sections include a significant amount of online work. *** In this course, students build on the communicative speaking, writing, listening and reading skills that were acquired in beginning Spanish. Class activities are carried out almost entirely in Spanish. For the most part, grammar should be studied at home; a small percentage of class time is intended for grammar instruction and practice. Class Description:
This course is for those who have completed Spanish 1022 or 1002 with C- or better, or who have taken two or more years of Spanish in high school and have successfully passed the Entrance Proficiency Test (EPT) for this level. ***Sections [001 thru 012} normally meet in-person/on campus on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. In addition, there are a limited number of days (announced at the beginning of the semester) in which students are required to complete synchronous class work online during class time and/or attend class in person for exams and special assignments on Fridays. These sections include a significant amount of online work. *** In this course, students build on the communicative speaking, writing, listening and reading skills that were acquired in beginning Spanish. Class activities are carried out almost entirely in Spanish. For the most part, grammar should be studied at home; a small percentage of class time is intended for grammar instruction and practice. Reading skills are developed through the textbook, and writing skills are developed through a variety of writing assignments. Each student will present an oral presentation on a topic related to those covered in in the textbook or in class. Because Spanish class is about the only place where a student can practice listening and speaking, class attendance is critical. Partially Online Sections: The instruction and content are delivered by a combination of in class face-to-face meetings and a wide range of independent and collaborative online activities with short (frequent) due dates. Face to face meeting typically occur on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Some weeks require attendance on Tuesday and Friday. Do not schedule work and /or another class for those days.
