Course Catalog Description:
This is a fast-paced course that covers the first two semesters of Italian in one semester. Students will be able to move more quickly toward proficiency in Italian to fulfill requirements and/or enroll in advanced Italian courses or expand research options. At the end of this course, you will be able to communicate about topics such as past times, food, family, school, health, sports and much more.

Class Description:

Italian 1022 is a 5-credit accelerated beginning course designed for students who have studied Italian abroad, have previous experience with the basic structures and vocabulary of the language or have a strong background in another Romance Language or in Latin. (instructor's permission required to enroll) .


The course will cover all the structures and vocabulary of the first-year language courses. Integral parts of this course will be the online assignments that students are required to do at home both as preparation, before coming to class, and as homework. Italian 1022 will also introduce students to several cultural aspects of modern Italy.To further increase their confidence in communicating in Italian, students will also participate in several one-to-one online exchange with native speakers of Italian throughout the semester. Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to enroll in Italian 1003.


Class may be blended, meeting together online instead of in the classroom, at several points during the semester.

Laptops or tablets are required for full participation in the course.

Grading:
Grading will be based on quizzes, oral assessments, compositions, homework, online activities, attendance, participation, preparation, and final exam.

Fill in the blank; true/false; multiple choices; short answers; essay; presentation
Workload:
60-75 minutes of daily homework
