- Representations of American Indians in film, historically/contemporarily. What such representations assert about Native experience and cultural viability. What they reflect about particular relationships of power.
- Class Notes:
- Though identified as a focus on American Indian or Native American films, this course will focus almost exclusively on films in multiple genres set in Oceania and films produced by indigenous Pacific Islanders. Good faith effort will be put in making substantive comparison and contrasts with the topic of American Indian or Native Americans in cinema, as subjects or as producers.
