Course Catalog Description:: Topics specified in Class Schedule. prereq: 3015, [3107W or TLDO 3107 or VENZ 3107 or instr consent]
Class Description:: TOPIC: Spanish Applied Linguistics. The objectives of this course are to introduce students to fundamental concepts in the field of applied linguistics and their application to the acquisition and teaching of Spanish as a second language. We will focus on aspects of Spanish second language acquisition that are particularly difficult for English speakers, examining empirical studies on the acquisition of the pronominal system, ser and estar, preterite and imperfect, subjunctive, and speech acts. This course will be of special interest to Spanish majors who intend to become Spanish language teachers.
