Course Catalog Description:
Major issues of culture in relation to business in context of Spanish-speaking world. Important historical-social factors that contribute to understanding of economy/business relationships with industrialized nations. prereq: 3015
Class Description:
Spanish 3022 is an advanced course intended for both business majors and those interested in the business world. This class examines specific fields of business (Marketing, Finance, Real Estate, etc), current events in the Spanish-speaking world, and cultural issues pertinent to doing business in the Spanish-speaking world or with Spanish speakers. This course is a Spanish course, not a business course but as the previous list demonstrates, culture and the world in general will be examined from a business perspective. While you will learn vocabulary pertinent to the business world, that is not the focus of this course. This is an advanced Spanish course that is intended to advance your knowledge of the Spanish-speaking world and the Spanish language in general through the specific context of business and culture. In Spanish 3022 you will learn about business forms of communication (letter of reference, cover letter, and the CV) and you will also write a final paper that will address your personal business interest in the context of a specific Spanish speaking country. The final paper will allow you to delve into your personal interests as well as to expand upon the vocabulary and grammar necessary to discuss the aspects of business that are of most interest to you.
