Vaccines have saved millions of lives and billions of dollars, yet controversies surrounding their efficacy and safety persist. In this course, we will investigate the field of vaccinology from an epidemiologic perspective and assess current challenges to preventing and controlling infectious diseases in the US and globally. This topics course now in it's second year will focused on the epidemiology of vaccines and will cover: Ï Epidemiologic methods and study designs for evaluating the impact of vaccines Ï Indirect effects of vaccines/herd immunity Ï Communication strategies for addressing public health controversies Ï Cutting-edge advances in vaccine design, development, and implementation Students from a wide range of fields including public health, clinical research, basic science, and other programs are encouraged to enroll.
