Course Catalog Description:: History of citizen/state in France from French Revolution to present.
Class Description:: The French revolution of 1789 was a turning point in European history; its impact and legacy were global. Starting with this event the course will trace the social, political and cultural history of France and its empires. It will examine why events in France had widespread repercussions and how France became an important player in the global context during the 19th and 20th centuries.
Grading:: 40% Other Evaluation Other Grading Information: mid-term and final exams; 40% 2 papers; 20% Class participation and attendance
Exam Format:: One essay (from a choice of three) and 5 Identification of terms (from a choice of 10)
