Course Catalog Description:: General background preparation for advanced study. Diverse selection of literatures written in English, usually bridging national cultures and time periods. Readings specified in Class Schedule.

Class Description:: This course investigates the evolution of the prose poem (poetry in paragraphs) and the current success of hybrid prose (combinations of poetic sentences and brief, experimental fiction and non-fiction). A selected list of books by prose poets and anthologies of hybrids will be read, along with writing a sequence of prose poems and genre-less texts.
