- Class Description:
- This course continues the presentation of language skills--speaking, writing, listening and reading begun in Swedish 1001/1002. Students will review, examine and develop these skills through a content-based curriculum. Students will be introduced to a variety of Swedish texts--stories, songs, newspaper articles, video and Internet resources. The review of basic points of Swedish grammar with an emphasis on sentence structure and word order will enable students to improve their writing skills in connection with process-oriented writing assignments. Vocabulary building will be supported by a rich array of texts that the students will be reading during their second year. Speaking and listening will be practiced in role-play activities involving representative social situations. The interaction will familiarize students with the different levels of formality and intimacy used in conversational settings, and the codes and mythologies unique to Swedish culture.
