Special topics/regions covered by visiting professors in their research fields.
Class Description:
Interested in programming? Want to learn how to write Python programs that manipulate and process geospatial data? Principles of Geocomputing explores foundational principles, methods, and best-practices in programming, computing, and GIS. No programming experience is required. Experience in GIS or spatial databases is strongly recommended. The courses primarily uses open source software and tools.
Exam Format:
No final exam. Instead the course revolves around a semester-long research project in which students use geocomputing approaches to solve a geospatial problem of their choice.
Class Format:
~70% Lecture
~30% In-class labs, activities, and discussions
