- Fundamental issues related to acquisition, storage, manipulation, analysis, display, and interpretation of spatially-referenced data. Emphasizes mathematical analysis of data, interpretation of cultural/physical patterns critical to development of geographical reasoning.
- Class Description:
- INSTRUCTOR: Associate Professor Steve Manson We will learn about mapping our world by understanding how maps work, making our own maps, mapping virtual worlds like Facebook, and understanding how people use maps to tell stories and lies. Along the way, we will see how mapping is a useful lens through which to understand interactions between technology and society. This class fulfills TWO LE requirements, the Social Sciences Core and the Society and Technology Theme.
