1817 letter to his brothers, John Keats famously called the essential quality of the artist "Negative Capability," the capacity for "being in uncertainties."
In this class, we'll explore how various writers make their art from uncertainty. We'll also investigate other concerns vital to Keats's concept - these include discussions about the ideals of aesthetic form, the confluence or divergence of the artist's life and the art object itself, and the relation of art and imagination to sympathy.https://bookstores.umn.edu/course-lookup/51301/1173
